Eastbourne Studio Pottery
Let’s Cr-eat-e Together
Eastbourne Studio Pottery will be running thirty free workshops at ESP and offsite in community settings funded by the Arts Council. The workshops will span a broad range of techniques and will be led by the ESP team and a whole host of visiting artists including Emma Carlow, Christine Binnie, and Louisa Taylor.
Each workshop will bring together 2 groups of 6 people from organisations across Eastbourne to make and chat. The plates will become a canvas for ideas, forging links between the groups to enrich community cohesion and wellbeing through participation in the arts. Making with clay is a wonderful way to access your creativity, with most of the participants new to the medium, the techniques used will introduce the processes in fully accessible stages.
An exhibition of the plates with documentation of the workshops will be staged at Towner in May 2024 where all the participants will be invited back to share a celebration tea using their plates. A website will document the project and invite the public to upload images of their favourite plates.
The project is running from October 2023 to May 2024
